According to the Safe Food Act 2013, “Bangladesh Safe Food Authority” was established on 2 February 2015 as the Central Executive Authority to monitor and supervise the process of food production, import, processing, warehousing, distribution and marketing to ensure safe food. The authority consists of a chairman and 4 members.
To ensure the right to safe food through proper practice of scientific method, it is the duty of Bangladesh Safe Food Authority to coordinate activities related to food production, import, processing, stocking, supply, marketing and sales and to coordinate the functions of all organizations involved in safe food management.
The structure of the Bangladesh Safe Food Authority will be assisted by five departments headed by five directors of law to effectively implement the responsibilities and functions of the authority:

Ensuring safe food quality and quality
Department of Safe Food Risk Assessment and Communication
Corporate Services Department
Planning and Implementation: Cabinet Division, A2I, BCC, DoICT and BASIS
